Kia ora Berkley Community
Over the past two weeks we have successfully undertaken Camps at Aongatete (with one cancellation due to the severe storm that struck mid last week). We will endeavour to schedule some outdoor/camp experiences in Term 4 for those students who have missed Camp this term.
Our classroom and specialist teachers continue to deliver strong programmes of work and I commend them for the excellent way in which they have managed the challenges of this very demanding term.
School will be closing at 12.00pm on Thursday 14 April.
Due to the impact of absences, isolation and our Camp schedule, we have been unable to maintain our usual planning and professional learning schedule. Finishing early on Thursday will enable us to hold our first meeting as a whole teaching faculty, since the beginning of the term. We will undertake an afternoon of professional meetings in order to prepare for an ordered and quality start to the beginning of Term 2. This will include finalising plans for the exciting addition to our schoolwide programme of ‘Take Up the Challenge Day’ in Term 2.
The support of our community has ensured stability and continuous, uninterrupted learning opportunities for our students. Thank you for being vigilant in keeping students at home when they are unwell. Thank you to our staff who continue to ‘go the extra mile’ for our students – planning online learning whilst maintaining classroom programmes, stepping up for extra Camp duties to enable Camps to proceed, and keeping our students at the heart of what they do.
Best wishes to all as daylight saving comes to an end, and we enjoy the autumn weather over the next couple of weeks.
